I realize this is only pictures of 3 brides, but a Google search for "bridal fascinators" (because, of course, a fascinator is a hair flower or other type of hair adornment) yields 67,500 results. A search for "hair flower" on weddingbee.com yields at least ten pages of results, likely even more. (I also learned that while every bride in the entire world, probably including this one, is wearing a hair fascinator, these brides are also going the extra mile and making them themselves. I might have to be "original" here and just buy the damn thing, just for uniqueness's sake!)
Suffice it to say, while I thought wearing a flower in my hair would be unique and awesome and special and romantical, turns out that bridal hair flowers, I mean, fascinators are as ubiquitous as Uggs and rain boots in a sorority house.
It's just a little disappointing that something that I thought was so ME turns out to also be sooooooooo everyone else too.
Unfortunately, this is only Part One of how creative I am not. Stay tuned for the next post, where I go on to tell you all the other ideas I have apparently stolen from brides who have gone before me!
Have you ever thought you were being creative and unique, only to discover that your "original thought" was totally commonplace in wedding land? Were you bummed out by this revelation, or did you decide that you were the original trend setter, and everyone else was just following your lead (which is, secretly, what I think every time this happens to me)?
And, are you wearing a hair flower? :-)
Nope, not a creative bone in my body, everything in my wedding was inspired for something I've seen on a wedding blog! :D I wound up not finding a headband or hair flower I liked (oh he'll no, I'd never be able to make one of those!) so I wore nothing in my hair, which I think is pretty damn unique. I'll let you know if I see anything special re:hair!
ReplyDeleteI knew I wanted a cupcake wedding cake... for years before I even met Rob, I knew this... once wedding planning began I saw that this "unique" idea was very commonplace. But still did it, still loved it, and still thought it was very ME. We had plenty of other "trendy" aspects of our wedding too. The best thing about your wedding day it that you're the only bride there. Do whatever will make you feel pretty, special, and bridal chic. There won't be any google images or weddingbee recaps to compare yourself to. Just you and your groom and everyone you love telling you how much they adore that flower in your hair.
ReplyDeleteNope, I don't think I have any truly original ideas either! I'm going with the hair flower too, and I'm making it myself. That's because I wasn't able to find one that I liked without feathers so I decided to make one myself!
ReplyDeleteI thought that I was soooo original--and then I found wedding blogs! Fascinators, cupcakes, postcards, poster guestbook...at some point I thought that I dreamed them up. lol
